About me
When I was a little girl in the Netherlands I loved playing with beads with my favorite babysitter.
But then I grew up, studied art history, moved to New York City, got a job, and eventually I became a full time mom.
One year, while making spurs for my sons cowboy Halloween costume, I realized how much I enjoyed doing something creative again. I wanted more. So I took a goldsmith course and started making jewelry.
What started as a hobby is now slowly turning into a business but I am still having fun 'playing' with beads.

The name of the business was inspired by my life in Manhattan, combined with trips to the countryside in the Netherlands and France. Little did I know that a few years later I would be moving to the mountains outside Woodstock and this city girl would become a country chick, complete with an apple orchard, a vegetable garden, and an ever growing number of animals. My urban life was replaced by the outdoors, and I was inspired by the colors of nature, the changing of the seasons, and, still, by the hustle and bustle of the city on frequent trips.

And now, after 6 years of this country adventure, I have moved back to Manhattan. I am embracing my city life again with all its energy and diversity and also enjoy a quiet escape back to the Catskills now and then.
It's a nice balance between urban and country - this Urban Country Life.
